The Honourable Minister of Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh, FNSE, has congratulated the newly elected Local Government Chairmen and Councilloxrs, who emerged on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), following their victory across all eighteen Local Government Areas in the just concluded Edo State Local Government Election. He described the outcome as a resounding endorsement of the APC’s people-centred governance and a reflection of the growing confidence of the people of Edo State in the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the developmental strides of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration.

The Minister noted that while the victory is worthy of celebration, it also comes with enormous responsibility, urging the newly elected Chairmen and Councillors to justify the confidence reposed in them by delivering responsive, transparent and people-oriented governance.

He paid special tribute to the newly elected Chairmen and Councillors of Etsako East, Etsako West and Etsako Central Local Government Areas, expressing confidence that they would provide exemplary leadership that reflects the enduring values of service, accountability and community development for which the people of Edo North are known.

According to Engr. Momoh, local government remains the closest level of government to the people and must therefore become the engine room for sustainable development through improved infrastructure, quality primary healthcare, basic education, youth and women empowerment, rural economic development and effective community engagement.

“The confidence reposed in our party by the people of Edo State is both an endorsement of the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Monday Okpebholo, and a charge to every elected official to serve with humility, integrity and unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people,” the Minister stated.

He called on all the elected officials to see their victory as a mandate to unite their communities irrespective of political affiliation, deepen grassroots democracy and work tirelessly to advance the Renewed Hope Agenda at the local level.

Engr. Momoh further reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to partnering with all levels of government in delivering sustainable development to the people of Edo State. He noted that through the Federal Ministry of Regional Development, he will continue to champion initiatives that expand infrastructure, create economic opportunities and improve the quality of life in communities across the state, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Engr. Momoh wished all the newly elected Chairmen and Councillors a successful, peaceful and impactful tenure in office.
