Early Life & Education

Engineer Abubakar Momoh began his educational journey at St. Colomanus R.C.M. Primary School in Imiegba before attending St. Thomas's College, Ibusa. Driven by a passion for learning, he initially trained as a teacher and served at Ekperi Grammar School.

His academic excellence led him to the University of Benin (UNIBEN), where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering. He furthered his studies with a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Lagos and a second Master’s degree in Public Administration from Ambrose Alli University.

Political & Legislative Career

His political journey began at the grassroots level as a Councilor and Supervising Councilor for Finance. He later emerged as the first Speaker of the Etsako East Local Government Council and subsequently served as the Executive Chairman.

In 1999, he was elected to represent Etsako East in the Edo State House of Assembly. His outstanding performance paved the way for two terms in the House of Representatives (2003 and 2011), where he earned the trust of the Etsako Federal Constituency through impactful motions and bills.

Ministerial Elevation

Recognizing his wealth of experience, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed him first as the Minister of Niger-Delta Development and later as the pioneer Minister of Regional Development. Today, he coordinates key intervention agencies including the NDDC, NEDC, and SEDC across the nation.
